Create pages with Copilot in SharePoint
Roadmap ID: NIL
Copilot is now available for page creation in SharePoint, enabling users to leverage generative AI and Microsoft Graph to streamline content creation. By using existing Word, PowerPoint, PDF, and Loop documents as grounding data, Copilot simplifies and accelerates the process.
With built-in templates and design suggestions, Copilot ensures pages are visually engaging and aligned with organizational standards. Users can start by selecting +New in SharePoint and choosing Page with Copilot. They can then utilize pre-designed templates or enter specific instructions via an open prompt, allowing AI-driven content generation. Once generated, pages can be refined in edit mode for final adjustments before publication.
Microsoft Viva Connections: New News feature in Microsoft Teams
Roadmap ID: 472018
Viva Connections in Microsoft Teams is introducing an enhanced SharePoint News experience designed to simplify news visibility and consumption. The updated feed aggregates relevant news based on sites you follow, frequently accessed content, posts from colleagues, and trending topics—while ensuring that permissions and audience targeting are respected.
Enhanced interactivity allows you to like and save items, with boosted news and organizational updates prioritized at the top. This update is enabled by default on Teams for Windows desktop, iOS/Android, and web, and it includes a Microsoft 365 Copilot-powered summary feature (initially on Windows desktop) for licensed users, offering concise overviews of the top news items.
SharePoint : New usage reports through Microsoft PowerShell for the SharePoint agents trial
Roadmap ID: NIL
SharePoint and Global Admins can now leverage the PowerShell cmdlet Get-SPOCopilotPromoUsage
to access tenant-level usage data for the SharePoint agents trial, which runs through June 2025. This tool provides details on the total trial queries used, those remaining, and the available queries per tenant, with historical data available from the trial's start in January 2025.
Additionally, administrators who haven't enrolled in the pay-as-you-go trial still have time to do so before it concludes on 30 June 2025.
SharePoint: New Table toolbar
Roadmap ID: 394278
The SharePoint UI design team has enhanced table functionality within the Text web part based on extensive usage data analysis. In March, they introduced a new, responsive Table toolbar that remains in focus during table editing. This toolbar automatically adjusts to the section layout and consolidates options into an overflow menu when necessary. Users can now easily add, delete, merge, split, and format table elements.
This update, available in both SharePoint and Viva Amplify, streamlines table design, making it more intuitive and efficient.
OneDrive and SharePoint: New annotation layout and tools for editing PDFs
Roadmap ID: 483156
Microsoft have introduced an enhanced PDF annotation layout designed for a more intuitive experience. The new design consolidates all annotation tools—such as text, drawing, highlighting, and a precision eraser—into a single toolbar at the top of the screen, making it easier to work with PDFs. This update not only simplifies the annotation process but also maintains SharePoint as the original content storage location.
Add approval workflows to any list or library in Microsoft 365
Roadmap ID: 420336
Leverage seamless approvals on any list or library with the new integration of SharePoint and the Teams Approvals app. A single toggle enables an Approval column, establishing an automated review process where you can designate approvers and submit requests. These requests can be tracked and acted upon either within Teams or directly in SharePoint, with the Approval status metadata automatically updated upon completion. Built-in safeguards prevent edits during the review process, and integrated notifications keep everyone informed—all while maintaining the context of your Teams conversations.
Manage SharePoint pages using the left navigation pane
Roadmap ID: NIL
The SharePoint start page now delivers an enhanced experience that streamlines page management. In addition to creating, duplicating, and navigating recently edited pages, a newly added left navigation panel allows users to filter pages by site. This enables the creation of a new page directly from a specific recent site, reducing clicks and preserving context. Moreover, users can easily access all sites with created or published pages via the "View all sites" option at the bottom of the Recently Edited list. Combined with the Copilot integration, this update makes SharePoint page creation more intuitive and efficient.
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for OneDrive
Roadmap ID: NIL
The Microsoft 365 admin center now offers an OCR capability for OneDrive, allowing administrators to enable image-based text recognition. This feature can be activated for specific groups, selected users, or organization-wide, ensuring that all files become searchable. The enhanced searchability supports compliance initiatives such as eDiscovery.
Note: OCR operates on a pay-as-you-go model, incurring costs for its use.
Introducing Researcher and Analyst in Microsoft 365 Copilot
Roadmap ID: NIL
In March, two innovative reasoning agents—Researcher and Analyst—were introduced for the workplace. Researcher handles complex, multi-step research projects to deliver high-quality and accurate insights, while Analyst emulates a seasoned data scientist, using iterative chain-of-thought reasoning to transform raw data into refined insights rapidly. Both agents securely access work data, including emails, meetings, files, and chats, as well as web content, to provide expert, on-demand analysis.
Microsoft 365 subscribers can now experience Copilot in OneDrive
Roadmap ID: NIL
Microsoft Copilot is an AI-powered digital assistant that enhances productivity by assisting with tasks such as drafting and refining content, inserting visuals, and creating presentations from documents. New features are now available on the OneDrive web version for Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers, unlocking AI credits that allow users to leverage Copilot's capabilities across the Microsoft 365 suite.
This integration enables efficient interaction with OneDrive files—facilitating summaries, comparisons, and decision-making without the need to open individual files. Simply click the Copilot button to access suggested actions or to engage directly with up to five selected files, streamlining your workflow and boosting productivity.
